The WIKA LevelGuard attachment is designed to be used with a submersible liquid-level sensor and is an ideal solution for difficult level-sensing applications that involve sludge, slurry, or turbulence. LevelGuard is available with submersible liquid level pressure transmitter types LS-10 and LH-10 and the intrinsically safe submersible liquid-level transmitter IL-10.

So, how can the attachment help with all that sludge and slurry? Its large, two-inch diaphragm is sensitive enough to monitor extremely low liquid levels or when the assembly is buried in a layer of sludge or slurry. Plus, the cable supplied with WIKA submersible pressure transmitters is designed to withstand more than 200 pounds of strain, so no additional support or conduit connections are required. The rugged, all-stainless-steel LevelGuard provides excellent durability and a long service life even in harsh environments.

LevelGuard Features Include:

  • All 316 stainless steel construction for durability
  • Protection from physical damage and turbulence
  • Prevention of transmitter movement due to added weight
  • Prevention of clogging by large debris

While submersible transmitters are commonly utilized in clean-water applications, they are also applicable for use in holding tanks, lift stations, wet wells, chemical plants, and rivers. The submersible transmitters are equally reliable sensing devices for refineries and paint plants, and they may also be used with distillation equipment, filling equipment for combustible gases, and overfilling protection systems.

Application Advantages and Disadvantages

The following illustrations show advantages and disadvantages of using LevelGuard with different technologies.

Oil & Grease: Float systems and ultrasonic systems are rendered inoperative.

Submersed & Floating Debris: Bubbler tubes and conventional pressure transmitters are blocked and give false readings.

Submersed & Floating Debris: LevelGuard prevents debris build-up from effecting and blocking the diaphragm.

Turbulent Water: Pressure sensor is moved around by water flow.

Turbulent Water: LevelGuard adds significant weight to the pressure transmitter (WIKA LS-10) and prevents water from moving the unit around.
