Which pressure transmitter do you turn to when you’re working in an environment associated with liquid level measurement, water and wastewater treatment, well-depth measurement, or offshore water-depth measurement? The WIKA LS-10 liquid level pressure transmitter.

The LS-10 provides hydrostatic level measurement in:

  • Bore holes
  • Drinking water manholes
  • Rivers
  • Tanks
  • Waste water plants

Extensive quality-control testing and calibration ensures that the LS-10 liquid level pressure transmitter provides a signal output of 4-20 mA and an accuracy of 0.25% of span. Its printed circuit board features state-of-the-art surface-mount technology that guarantees long-term reliability. In addition, temperature compensation makes certain the LS-10 remains accurate and stable even if exposed to temperature variations.

The LS-10 liquid-level transmitter’s watertight, vented polyurethane cable can withstand more than 220 pounds of strain and supports the transmitter without any additional cabling. Also, the LS-10 pressure transmitter meets NEMA 6P and IP 68 requirements for permanent submersion up to 300 feet.

The LS-10 also features:

  • Ranges from 50 INWC to 400 psi
  • Rated IP68 for permanent submersion
  • Hastelloy® case available for aggressive media (Model LH-10 only)
  • 4-20 mA 2-wire output signal, others available
  • Vent tube desiccant drying cartridge and other accessories available
  • Lightning protection available (Model LH-10 only)
  • Stainless steel wetted parts with 220-lb. tensile strength polyurethane cable

The LS-10 can be equipped with WIKA's LevelGuard attachment for additional protection. It’s applicable in lift stations, wet wells, and more. The WIKA LevelGuard attachment is designed for use with a submersible liquid-level sensor and is an ideal solution for difficult level-sensing applications where sludge, slurry, or turbulence may be present. LevelGuard is available with the following pressure transmitters:

The large, 2-inch diaphragm provides excellent sensitivity and performance even when used to monitor extremely low liquid levels or when the assembly is buried in a layer of sludge or slurry. The cable supplied with WIKA submersible pressure transmitters is designed to withstand over 200 pounds of strain, so no additional support or conduit connections are required. The rugged, all-stainless-steel LevelGuard provides excellent durability and a long service life even in harsh environments.

LevelGuard Features Include:

  • For lift stations, wet wells, and other applications
  • All 316 stainless steel construction for durability
  • 2-inch diameter diaphragm for excellent measurement sensitivity
  • Diaphragm protected from physical damage and turbulence
  • Added weight prevents movement of the transmitter
  • Prevents clogging by large debris
  • Vent tube (desiccant filter option)

LevelGuard Keeps Moisture from the Vent Tube

One problem with vented pressure transducers is that water or moisture ingress over a long period of time can cause the transducer to fail or output to drift. Water may condense inside the pressure transducer vent tube during humid conditions. The solution is to install a desiccant drying cartridge at the end of the vent tube. The desiccant turns pink as it takes up moisture. The tube needs to be periodically checked and the desiccant replaced or recharged to ensure continued protection of the transducer.

VentGuard Kit Helps with Moisture Problems

Submersible pressure transmitter cables contain a vent tube that allows the pressure transmitter to automatically compensate for changes in barometric pressure. This tube leads to the back of the liquid-level sensor inside the transmitter, which may become damaged by moisture over time.

The submersible cable protection kit is designed for applications where humidity or moisture is present and should be mounted in a location that will never be submerged. The NEMA 4X/ IP 67 junction box features a transparent polycarbonate cover that allows you to easily see the desiccant canister, which will change color from blue to pink when canister regeneration is needed.

Regenerating the canister is as simple as popping it in the microwave for approximately two minutes. A PTFE vent tube filter provides additional protection against dirt and moisture entering the vent tube. Two compression fittings accommodate the submersible cable entry on one side and standard cable for the exit side.

VentGuard Features Include:

  • NEMA 4 / IP 67 cable junction box with transparent polycarbonate cover
  • PTFE vent tube filter
  • Reusable desiccant canister regenerates in microwave
  • Seven-position screw terminal block
